Los Cabos has mi corazon. (See what I did there?) I’m sitting on the balcony in my room as I write this getting inspiration from the beach, crashing waves and watching the stingray jump!
I had the privilege of visiting all three of the Velas Resorts: Grand Velas Boutique Resort, Grand Velas Los Cabos and Mar del Cabo. All are dripping with bougainvillea plants that often “rain” the pink and white petals, giving it a fairy tale feel. The food at each is incredible, hard to find in an all-inclusive!
The grounds at each are amazing and service at the pool and beach is fast and friendly. While the beaches are not swimmable, the views and waves are mesmerizing. Each resort is distinctly different and each are perfect for the right guest:

Grand Velas Boutique Hotel: for the luxury couple, adults only
This resort is all-inclusive, small and luxurious. It’s a quiet and cozy resort available for ages 18+. The rooms are huge and each has “something” on the balcony: a jacuzzi, plunge pool, private pool or fire pit. Most have views of the ocean, the least expensive category is a garden view, still gorgeous. They are high luxury with Dyson products and a citrus-infused shower!
The pool is huge with beautiful tile work and swim-up bar. There are lots of great places to gather during the day and night (with fire pits) to have a drink and relax.
Grand Velas Boutique Hotel is all-inclusive and you can walk over to the Grand Velas Los Lobos to enjoy their restaurants, too!

Grand Velas Los Cabos: family-friendly with some adult-only areas
This resort is also all-inclusive, larger and welcomes families but still has some Adult-Only areas. The rooms are huge with a jacuzzi in the bathroom. The balconies have double chaise lounges with additional seating areas, just begging you to spend every morning watching the sun rise!
The Kids and Teen Clubs rival something Disney would offer. Lots of games and counselors on-site to help with meals and play time. The Kids Club is for ages 4+ but they also have private nanny services. There is the cutest kid’s pool complete with their own little cabanas!
The main pool is separated into 3 areas: main pool, activity pool for water volleyball and games and an Adult Pool with gorgeous views of the ocean. The pools are conveniently located next to the buffet that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pro-Tip: ask for To Go containers to select your lunch from the buffet and enjoy it by the pool! We never had a problem finding a chair!
There are over 7 places to eat, including a Michelin-star restaurant! Like her Boutique sister, the food is incredible. Guests at Grand Velas Los Cabos can walk to the Boutique Hotel to enjoy Loto, highly recommend as a Date Night.
Mar del Cabo: small, adult-only, European Plan
This resort feels like a cross between a hotel in Santorini and old-world Mexico. The buildings are bright white with contrasting blue doors and the pink bougainvillea but also tons of gorgeous Mexican tile work. This was my favorite resort. It’s quiet, small, lots of stairs to help walk off the food but you feel like you’ve stepped into another world. This hotel used to be college dorms in the 50’s and you can feel the nostalgia with the hint of mid-century modern vibes.
It's European Plan which means not all-inclusive, you pay for food and drinks. However, the suites have kitchens so you could have groceries brought in for snacks and lunch or enjoy their great restaurant, Encanto, serving all meals. You can also purchase a Day Pass to enjoy the Grand Velas Los Cabos next door and their all-inclusive options but return to the serenity of this small paradise.
Guests that select this hotel are the type that prefers to get out and explore the town and soak up the culture. (You can certainly just sit and enjoy the pool and beach but, if that’s the plan, the other resorts might be a better fit.)

A perfect itinerary for the Mar del Cabo guest is a 4 or 5-night stay:
Day 1: Arrival, dinner at the resort
Day 2: Enjoy a DayPass at Grand Velas Los Lobos, dinner at Cocina de Autor
Day 3: Sailing excursion in Cabo san Lucas to the Arch, dinner at Loto, at Grand Velas Boutique
Day 4: Enjoy the resort, afternoon and dinner in San Jose del Cabo famous for art and shopping
Day 5: Departure
These resorts are “in the middle” of Cabo san Lucas and San Jose so convenient to all excursions, shopping, dining and the airport!
Let me know when you’re ready to say Hasta La Vista and Bienvenido’s a Mexico!
