Best Spots Worldwide for a Romantic Getaway

TL;DR Looking for the perfect romantic trip? Here are my top recommendations based on the experience you want:

  • For ultra-private luxury: Four Seasons Tamarindo + Naviva (Mexico)

  • For a classic romantic city: Paris

  • For a close-to-home escape: New Orleans or Charleston

  • For a beach getaway: Maui or the Maldives

  • For all-inclusive ease: Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos

  • For something fun and unique: Walt Disney World (yes, really!)

The best destination comes down to your travel style — whether you want to relax, explore, or a mix of both.

Romantic Getaways Around the World

From effortless beach escapes to unforgettable city stays.

There’s something really special about planning a trip that’s just for the two of you.

No schedules to juggle. No distractions. Just time to reconnect, explore somewhere beautiful, and create memories that feel a little slower, a little more intentional.

Whether you’re celebrating something big or simply want to get away together, these are some of my favorite romantic destinations around the world — each one offering a different kind of experience depending on what you’re looking for.

For a Once-in-a-Lifetime Escape: Mexico’s Pacific Coast

If you’re looking for something truly special, this is the trip I’m constantly recommending.

Four Seasons Tamarindo is one of those places that feels completely untouched, tucked away, peaceful, and incredibly beautiful. It’s not the easiest destination to get to, which is exactly what makes it so special.

For an even more elevated experience, I love pairing it with Four Seasons Naviva, an adults-only, all-inclusive luxury retreat. It’s private, immersive, and designed for you to completely unplug.

Pro tip: A split stay between Naviva and Tamarindo gives you the perfect balance of relaxation and exploration. It’s one of my favorite “worth the upgrade” itineraries to plan.

For a Classic Romantic City: Paris

From slow mornings at a café to evening walks along the Seine, it’s a destination that naturally invites you to slow down and just enjoy being together. There’s a rhythm to Paris that feels less rushed and more intentional, perfect for a couples trip.

Your days don’t need to be packed to feel full. You might start with coffee and pastries, wander through neighborhoods like Le Marais or Saint-Germain, and end with a late dinner or a sunset view of the Eiffel Tower.

Some of the most memorable moments here aren’t the big attractions, they’re the in-between ones. Sitting by the river, lingering over dinner, or simply getting lost together in the city.

It’s not about doing everything. It’s about being present, together, in a place that feels effortlessly romantic.

Best Romantic Getaways in the U.S. for Couples

If you’re looking for something a little closer (but still incredibly special), I love both of these options.

New Orleans, especially at the Four Seasons, (images above) has this mix of energy and elegance... with incredible food, live music, and a really fun atmosphere.

Charleston feels a bit slower and softer. Think cobblestone streets, historic homes, and quiet dinners that turn into long conversations.

Both are perfect for a long weekend that still feels like a true escape.

Best Beach Destinations for Couples Worldwide

Grand Wailea resort in Maui Hawaii with luxury pool, palm trees, and oceanfront views, a top destination for a romantic beach getaway or luxury family vacation.

If your idea of romance involves the beach, you really can’t go wrong with either of these.

Maui offers a mix of adventure and relaxation — from scenic drives and waterfalls to incredible resorts like the Grand Wailea.

The Maldives is more of a true “disconnect from the world” experience. Private villas, overwater bungalows, and days that feel completely un-rushed!

Best All-Inclusive Romantic Resorts for Couples: Los Cabos

If you want something easy but still elevated, Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos is one of my favorites.

It’s adults-only, all-inclusive, and beautifully designed — so you get that high-end feel without needing to plan every detail. This is a great option if you want to fully relax while still having an incredible experience.

Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos oceanfront pool overlooking the beach in Cabo San Lucas, a luxury all-inclusive resort perfect for a romantic couples getaway in Mexico.

Unique Romantic Vacation Ideas for Couples

This one surprises people, but hear me out...Walt Disney World can be incredibly romantic when it’s planned the right way.

Think:

  • Dinner with a fireworks view

  • Walking through EPCOT with a drink in hand

  • Resort days that feel relaxed and intentional

It’s a mix of fun and nostalgia with just enough structure to make everything feel seamless.

They’re about choosing a destination that matches the kind of experience you want — whether that’s slow and quiet, fun and energetic, or completely indulgent. And when it’s planned thoughtfully, it allows you to be present, relaxed, and fully enjoy the time together.
